Kelechi Iheanacho Hits Hat-Trick As Leicester Thrash Sheffield United

Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first hat-trick for club and country in Leicester City’s 5-0 obliteration of Sheffield United on Sunday.

The win takes Leicester city to second place in the Premier League, while Brighton improved their hopes of avoiding relegation with a vital win against Southampton on Sunday.

Nigerian striker Iheanacho opened the floodgates in the 38th minute at the King Power Stadium with a close-range finish from Jamie Vardy's pass after a flowing move.

Iheanacho's third goal in his last three games was followed by Ayoze Perez's fine strike from the edge of the area in the 64th minute.

Thanks to Iheanacho’s heroics, he has now been directly involved in 51 goals (37 goals, 14 assists) in 76 starts in all competitions, for Manchester City and Leicester City combined, since his move to England on the back of an impressive outing at the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup.

Interestingly, each of the last three hat-tricks in the Premier League have been scored by African players - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Leeds United, Riyad Mahrez vs Burnley and Iheanacho vs Sheffield United.
